sustainability

WE ARE COMMITTEED TO USING SUSTAINABLE PRODUCTS WHENEVER POSSIBLE. IF THIS IS IMPORTANT TO YOU, PLEASE REQUEST OUR STATEMENT OF SUSTAINABILITY.

Sustainable seafood is seafood from either farmed or fished sources that can maintain or increase production in the future without jeopardizing the ecosystems from which it was acquired. The increased momentum of the sustainable seafood movement has increased as people have become more aware of overfishing and certain environmentally destructive fishing methods.

Here in the United States, the Sustainable Fisheries Act defines sustainable practices using national standards. A sustainable fishery produces consistent output over an indefinite period without otherwise damaging the enveloping environment.

Edo Sushi Express works to follow the guidelines established by Monterey Bay Aquarium that states as its mission to inspire conservation of the oceans.

Edo Sushi Express never uses blue fin tuna.  We are always looking for the best sources for sustainable seafood. This includes the use of wild Alaskan salmon, baby shrimp from Nova Scotia, the use of U. S., rather than imported fish whenever possible.

EDO SUSHI EXPRESS is a business member of AASHE, Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education. In addition to using the Monterey Bay guidelines for sustainability in seafood, we are working to educate ourselves and others about the importance of sustainability in other areas of our society and economy.
